Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions

Is Feedbackfirst free?

Yes. You can join for free, review products, earn credits, and use them to publish your own product — without paying anything. Paid plans (Growth and Pro) give you a monthly credit pack and bonus credits on validated actions, so you can move faster without waiting for your balance to build up.

How do credits work?

Credits are the platform's currency. You earn them by leaving feedback that gets validated by a maker (+5 for structured, +1 for quick). You spend them to publish a product (1 credit) or book a Spotlight slot (20 credits). You can also buy credits directly or sell your surplus on the marketplace.

I just launched with no users. Can I still get feedback?

Yes, this is one of the core use cases. The Feedbackfirst community is made up of makers who review each other's products. Publish yours and start receiving structured, actionable feedback right away — no existing audience required.

Is it pay-to-win? Can someone just buy their way to the top?

No. Credits can be bought, but visibility is still earned. The Spotlight is time-limited and purely additive — it doesn't affect your product's organic position. The Discover page and leaderboards rank products by community activity, not by spend. A product with no engagement gets no traction regardless of credits.

For Reviewers

How do I earn credits as a reviewer?

Leave a structured feedback on any published product. The maker decides if it was useful. If they validate it, you earn +5 credits automatically. Quick feedbacks earn +1. The first structured feedback on a product earns a +10 bonus. There's no daily cap — the only limit is feedback quality.

What if my feedback isn't validated?

You earn nothing. But don't be discouraged. Ask yourself: Was it specific? Was it actionable? Did I actually test the product? Use it as a learning opportunity. The best reviewers focus on quality over quantity.

Can I review the same product twice?

Yes, but only the first structured feedback on a product earns the +10 bonus. Subsequent reviews earn the standard +5 or +1.

How long does it take to get validated?

It depends on the maker. Most validate within 24-48 hours. Some validate immediately. If a maker doesn't validate within a week, you can follow up.

Can I sell my credits if I don't need them?

Yes. The marketplace lets you list credits for sale at your own price. A buyer pays via Stripe checkout, you receive the net amount after a platform commission (15% on the free plan, 10% with a paid plan). Credits are reserved immediately and refunded if the listing expires unsold after 30 days.

How much can I earn selling credits?

It depends on how many you earn and what price you set. A reviewer earning 50 credits per month at €0.75 per credit would earn €37.50 (after 15% commission). With a paid plan and higher volume, you could earn €100+ per month.

Can I withdraw my feedback after submitting it?

Yes, you can edit or delete your feedback anytime before it's validated. After the maker validates it, it becomes part of the product's public feedback history and can't be deleted.

For Makers

How much does it cost to publish a product?

1 credit. You get 1 free credit when you sign up, so your first product is free. Subsequent products cost 1 credit each. You can earn credits by reviewing other products, or buy them with a paid plan.

What feedback will I receive?

Structured feedback across 4 dimensions: what's clear, what's confusing, what works, what to improve. You'll also get quick feedback (shorter, less detailed). All feedback is from experienced makers in the community.

Do I have to validate all feedback?

No. You decide which feedback is useful. Only feedback you validate earns credits for the reviewer. You're in control of what counts as valuable.

Can I edit my product after publishing?

Yes. You can update your product description, URL, status, logo, and other details anytime. Changes are reflected immediately on your product page.

How do I get more feedback?

Engage with the community. Review other products. Leave thoughtful feedback. The makers who contribute get better feedback in return. Also, publish during active sprints (weekly) to increase visibility.

Can I embed feedback on my own site?

Yes. You can embed a feedback button or survey directly on your site with 2 lines of HTML. Your users respond in context, and all responses land in your Feedbackfirst workspace. See Embed Documentation for details.

What's the difference between Spotlight and organic visibility?

Spotlight is a paid, time-limited boost. You get 4 featured slots at the top of the Discover page for 7 days. Organic visibility comes from community engagement — the more feedback you receive and validate, the higher you rank on the Discover page. Both matter, but organic visibility is sustainable long-term.

How do I convert feedback into features?

Feedback can be converted into feature requests. These appear on your public roadmap and community members can upvote them to help you prioritize. When you ship a feature based on feedback, publish an update and tag the original feedback.

Troubleshooting

I published a product but it's not showing on the Discover page.

It may take a few minutes to appear. Refresh the page. If it still doesn't show, check that your product URL is valid and your product status is set to "Active" or "Launched".

I left feedback but it's not showing on the product page.

Feedback appears immediately after you submit it. If you don't see it, try refreshing the page. If it still doesn't appear, contact support.

I earned credits but they're not in my account.

Credits are added immediately when feedback is validated. If you don't see them, check that the maker has actually validated your feedback. You'll get a notification when they do.

My embedded feedback widget isn't working.

Make sure you've included the widget.js script and that your maker-id is correct. See Embed Documentation for troubleshooting steps.
